When the winter winds turn chilly, the tam giac mach (buckwheat flowers) start to blossom on the Dong Van Stone Plateau. This is also the start of the annual Buckwheat Flower Festival. With the theme “When stone comes to life,” the eighth Buckwheat Flower Festival in Ha Giang is scheduled to begin on November 26, 2022 in Dong Van district. Many remarkable cultural, sporting, and tourism activities will take place in four mountainous districts: Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac.
Ha Giang province has cultivated nearly 400ha of buckwheat flowers in preparation for the festival. These flowers bloom between September and December and the festival coincides with their peak. Tourists may also sightsee in the buckwheat flower fields along National Road 4C and on the streets of Pho La, Pho Bang, Pho Cao, Sung La, Thai Phin Tung, Lung Tao, Ma Le, and Lung Cu.
