Vietnam Airlines has taken a major step in expanding its international footprint by signing four strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with key South Korean partners. The agreements, covering aviation, tourism, and logistics, were formalized during the Vietnam – Korea Economic Forum in Seoul, witnessed by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam and senior officials from both countries.
These MoUs signal a deepening of Vietnam Airlines’ long-term commitment to the Korean market, reinforcing the airline’s role as a catalyst for bilateral cooperation and regional integration.

A highlight of the agreements is a cooperation between Vietnam Airlines, its engineering arm Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), and Korean Air. The three parties will jointly explore the establishment of an aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) center at Long Thanh International Airport. The proposed facility would offer services including airframe maintenance, component repair, cabin modification, technology transfer, and technical training. This venture is poised to enhance Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure and position the country as a regional MRO hub.
Vietnam Airlines and Korean Air also committed to expanding cooperation in air cargo services. The collaboration will include joint sales, coordinated cargo operations, and development of a flexible logistics corridor connecting Vietnam, South Korea, and other key global markets. This initiative is designed to enhance supply chain resilience, increase cargo market share, and strengthen Vietnam’s role in global trade flows.
In the tourism sector, Vietnam Airlines, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and Saigontourist Group signed a key MoU aimed at promoting two-way travel and enhancing tourism offerings. The partnership will focus on developing attractive tour packages, executing joint marketing campaigns, and raising the global profile of Vietnam and South Korea as premier travel destinations.
As part of its expanded collaboration with South Korean partners, Vietnam Airlines has signed a strategic agreement with Saigontourist and Hanatour, one of South Korea’s leading travel agencies. The three parties will jointly develop cross-border tour products, create all-inclusive travel packages, and coordinate international promotional campaigns to elevate the profile of both Vietnam and South Korea as premier destinations.
This integrated tourism model is designed to boost two-way visitor flows while laying the groundwork for high-value, differentiated travel offerings that enhance national tourism competitiveness.
The agreement is part of a broader initiative to deepen Vietnam–South Korea bilateral cooperation, in which Vietnam Airlines plays a central role as a connector of markets and ecosystems. By expanding its network and partnering with trusted international organizations, Vietnam Airlines continues to position itself as a modern, globally integrated national carrier.
With a growing flight network, a modern fleet, and a growing aviation–tourism–logistics ecosystem, Vietnam Airlines remains committed to driving economic, cultural, and tourism exchange between Vietnam and global partners. The new partnerships with South Korean entities reinforce the airline’s role in supporting Vietnam’s global integration and sustainable development.
