Yang Liping is one of Asia’s most celebrated dance masters, renowned for her distinctive artistic vision and lyrical style of movement. Nicknamed the “Peacock of the Dance World,” she has spent decades introducing Chinese dance to global audiences, performing thousands of times in more than 50 countries.

The Peacock is Yang Liping’s signature stage work, the piece most closely identified with her artistic legacy. Premiering in 2012, it quickly became an artistic phenomenon and was grandly restaged in 2022 with a completely new stage format. Its inaugural tour covered 12 cities and 50 performances, all of which sold out, creating what became known as the “Peacock Wave.” By 2025, the production had reached 700 performances worldwide.

Yang Liping choreographed, art-directed, and even starred in the 2022 version, with the collaboration of Oscar-Winning art designer Ye Jinqian and a renowned creative team.Structured in four acts – Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter – the production tells a story of life, love, and the harmony between humanity and nature.
