Vietnam Airlines has officially organised a break ground event of its first aviation service project at Long Thanh International Airport, marking a key milestone in the airline’s long-term strategic development. The project is being led by Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines.
Titled “Construction and Operation of Aircraft Equipment Maintenance, Repair, and Ground Technical Services No. 1,” this project is part of Subproject 4 within the airport’s aviation services complex. This area is designated for aviation enterprises to develop key facilities—including aircraft maintenance, ground handling, inflight catering, logistics, and technical support—aimed at building a modern, integrated, and world-class aviation service ecosystem.

Mr. Ta Manh Hung, Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, stated: “As the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines is proud to play an active role in the development of Long Thanh International Airport—a strategic infrastructure project of national and regional significance. Through our member units, we are fully committed to mobilizing our ecosystem’s resources to help establish Long Thanh as a leading aviation hub in Asia.”
The VIAGS-led project is the first among several initiatives Vietnam Airlines and its subsidiaris are set to undertake at Long Thanh. It represents a foundational step in the carrier’s broader investment strategy to build a world-class ground service ecosystem at its future base airport—alongside existing key hubs in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Upon completion, the facility will provide maintenance and repair services for aviation vehicles and equipment, along with ground technical support, with an annual capacity to handle at least 12.5 million passengers and 600,000 tons of cargo. Services will be delivered in accordance with the high standards VIAGS currently provides to over 90 domestic and international airlines.
This project is part of Vietnam Airlines’ long-term commitment to sustainable growth, enhanced competitiveness, and global integration. Following VIAGS, other key services such as aircraft maintenance, inflight catering, and logistics will be developed to complete a comprehensive, modern aviation service ecosystem at Long Thanh.
The proactive involvement of Vietnam Airlines and its subsidiaries not only supports the timely execution of the Long Thanh Airport project but also contributes to shaping it into a new symbol of Vietnam’s aviation industry in a new era of development.
With over 30 years of experience and a team of more than 4,000 professionals, VIAGS is a leading ground services provider under Vietnam Airlines. In 2023, the company was honored by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at the WSOC conference for its outstanding contributions to global aviation safety and operations.
