When returning to nature, you will enjoy tranquil moments in which to observe and experience pristine and original beauty. This beauty has the power to ‘heal the soul’, as explained in the Japanese book ‘The Art of Forest Bathing’. All human senses fully absorb the atmosphere of the mountains and forests, from the moist green vegetation and delicate layers of mist to each white bubble bursting from a cool cascading waterfall.

In the ancient forests of Tay Con Linh, photographer Hai Le Cao was fortunate to experience ‘forest bathing’. He captured this experience through his art: photography.

Old-growth forests full of mystical beauty cover the peak of Tay Con Linh Mountain in Ha Giang. The centenary trees are so wide that five to seven people with outstretched arms can barely embrace them. These trees stretch upward like giant hands, catching the sunlight to survive. The green moss covering their trunks makes the already mysterious scene even more surreal.

In the culture of local ethnic La Chi people, the Tay Con Linh mountain range is more than just a surreal realm. The La Chi call it the ‘sacred mountain range’, with its highest peak located on the massif from which the Chay River originates, in the west of Ha Giang province. Standing at an elevation of 2,431 meters, it is often referred to as the ‘rooftop of Northeastern Vietnam’.

For travelers who love unspoiled beauty, Tay Con Linh is an ideal destination for trekking. Starting from September onwards, the weather is dry and cool during the day, with temperatures dropping significantly in the evenings and mornings, when the air is chilly. In this season, when there is light rain and no wind, a sea of clouds may appear before your eyes. Such overwhelming and unforgettable moments are gifts from Mother Nature, presented to her returning ‘children’.
