According to the Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens, passengers who are Vietnamese citizens aged 12 to under 14 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian on international flights, in addition to meeting other departure requirements. This means that families who wish their Vietnamese child, aged 12 to under 14, to travel alone from Vietnam on an international flight must pre-book our on-board Unaccompanied Minor Service. By booking this service, parents and/or guardians are authorizing Vietnam Airlines to carry their children on our flight(s). On domestic flights, this Unaccompanied Minor service is available but not mandatory for this age group.

Service booking conditions:

  • Passengers with Vietnamese citizenship aged 12 to under 14 traveling alone on an international flight;
  • Booking time period: at least three days before departure for journeys on domestic routes, and at least five days before departure for international flight routes.

Parents should be aware of this significant change when planning for their children to travel abroad by airplane from Vietnam.

For more information and to book our Unaccompanied Minor Service, please contact Vietnam Airlines’ agencies or visit our website at https://www.vietnamairlines.com/vn/vi/special-services/ssr-online.
