Duong Quan Ha

Known as a resort haven dotted with premium, fairy tale resorts and long, vibrant beaches, Bali has hidden its best wonder out of sight. Here, visitors are immersed in breathtaking scenery, removed from the bustling world, and able to slow down to savor every single moment. The secret is Nusa Penida Island, just 40 minutes southeast of Bali by boat.

Sening Waterfall throws its spray straight out to sea

The largest of three lovely islands, Nusa Penida spans 202sqkm. From Sanur or Padangbai Harbor in Bali, it takes less than an hour to reach this fairylike oasis. The best time to visit is the dry season from April to October. Popular transport means on the island include scooters, which are widely available and allow visitors to explore every nook and cranny; or shuttle bus tours, which may include hotel accommodation and meals. It takes at least two days to fully discover the island’s many famous attractions.

Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach: T-Rex Bay

Kelingking Beach is screened with spiky and rugged cliffs that form the shape of a giant, roaring dinosaur. The sapphire sea races against the cliffs, tossing up white bubbles against a backdrop of fading mountains. Viewed from above, to the right of dinosaur-shaped rocks lie undulating green mountains. To the left lies an oval island that resembles a dinosaur’s egg. From the peak, it takes about one hour to climb down to the coast. Lined with wooden fences and fallen trees, the trail is fairly safe, although, owing to its steepness, visitors must be careful. Be sure to bring a small backpack with your camera, a water bottle, swimsuit, sunscreen, and a big towel. Please note that sneakers are highly recommended for better grip.

Hồ bơi thiên nhiên độc đáo ở thác Seganing

Seganing Waterfall

While most waterfalls in Bali are surrounded by greenery, Seganing Waterfall lies just meters from the sea. It leans against the mountains and throws its spray straight out to sea. Wondrous nature has carved rocky caves that act as little pools of crystal water where visitors can bathe and enjoy the magnificent surroundings. The way down from the peak to Seganing Waterfall is treacherously steep and slippery, between the rocks and the sea. Daunting, sweltering and tiring as the walk is, once you reach the ground, you will definitely find the landscape worth the onerous climb.

Suwehan Beach is screened by a small spear-shaped island that rises from the sea

Rumah Pohon Tree House

Visitors to Nusa Penida should not miss seeing a marvelous sunrise in a tree house high in the air. Tree House is located in the east of Nusa Penida Island. It takes around one hour to drive there from the island’s main harbor. It features three tree houses that are virtually always occupied, and booked well in advance. Lacking phones or internet connections, the tree houses are deeply isolated from our interconnected world, guaranteeing a worry-free vacation. The trees houses offer panoramic views of one of the best sightseeing spots on the island – Thousand Island. Be sure to watch the first rays of sun light up the dim mountains and see the sun peep out of the sea, or stay up and watch the star-studded firmament and moonlight casting its gleams over the sea. Those hoping to spend some romantic nights or their honeymoon in a tree house should book at least 2 months in advance in the low season and 3 months in advance in the peak season (from June to August).

Nusa Penida also offers many untouched places like Angel’s Billabong, Broken Beach, and Bana Cliff Point – a great place to watch the sunset. Little Bana Island looks interesting, as it resembles a bridge. Suwehan Beach is screened by a small spear-shaped island that rises from the sea. And the natural pool in Temeling Forest has mirror-like sapphire water. In addition, Nusa Penida is well known for scuba diving. You can join dive trips to admire giant rays at Manta Bay, sea turtles at Toyapakeh, Sun Fish (Mola-Mola fish) at Crystal Bay, and especially, miniature Borobudur Temple at the bottom of the sea.

The strange colors and experiences of Nusa Penida will enrich your trip to Bali and keep drawing you back here.
