Fall/Winter 2025 International Fashion Week showcased a revival of familiar styles, but daring designers broke the rules of aesthetics and eras in surprising new ways.

Trench coats continue to reign
The trench coat – a long coat symbolizing elegance and sophistication – continues to solidify its strong position in the global fashion scene. Renowned brands such as Hermès, Michael Kors and Thom Browne have introduced diverse trench coat designs, ranging from minimalist single-breasted coats to luxurious double-breasted styles. The flexibility in design allows trench coats to easily adapt to various styles and occasions.
Not only have designs evolved, but fashion houses have also paid renewed attention to materials and colors. This season, trench coats have been refreshed with leather, silk and even denim. The color palette has also become more diverse, moving from familiar neutral tones like beige, black and khaki to more vibrant and bold hues.

Maraschino Red
Maraschino red, or cherry red, is quickly becoming the hottest color in Fall/Winter 2025 collections. This captivating shade appeared frequently on runways, from striking monochromatic red outfits by Calvin Klein to subtle accents in Khaite’s designs. Maraschino red was skillfully used to brighten outfits with leather pants and oversized hoodies, creating unique color contrasts and showcasing the wearer’s bold personality.
Christian Siriano, a designer who loves red, drenched his runway with this color in creations that were powerful and alluring yet highly wearable – as he said, “Red stems from the idea of strength.” The maraschino red trend affirms the confidence and individuality of the modern woman.

The elegant midiskirt
Fall/Winter 2025 runways witnessed the strong resurgence of corpcore office style, with the vest-and-midi-skirt combo being one of the standout highlights. Designers such as Calvin Klein and Tory Burch brought back 80s-inspired vests, reborn and upgraded for the modern working woman. These designs combine a nostalgic feel with refined minimalism, focusing on clean lines, neutral tones and overall elegance. The pencil midi skirt paired with a structured blazer creates a versatile and sophisticated outfit, embodying a signature New York style.
The dominance of the midi skirt on the runway is not just a fleeting trend but also reflects a shift in the sartorial style of working women as they seek comfort, practicality and self-expression through their attire.

Lace – The muse of evening wear
Another trend for Fall/Winter 2025 is the rise of lace, bringing a romantic, classic and seductive beauty to evening wear. This year, lace was used in details like Elizabethan-style collars and corset tops, combined with bold cuts.
Some brands introduced signature pleated lace designs in tailored outfits, from maxi dresses to lingerie. The Shakespeare-inspired collection by Alice + Olivia showcased intricate lace chokers and dramatic tiered silhouettes, evoking the image of aristocratic elegance. Lace is not only a symbol of romance and allure but also a testament to timeless, refined and classy beauty.
