Located in the heart of Hanoi, the Ho Guom Opera, with its predominantly white color, is likened to a pure white lotus flower radiating a fragrant aroma. It is a cultural rendezvous point – a place where the artistic values of Vietnam and the world converge.

The Ho Guom Opera was built by the Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People’s Committee at 40 – 40A Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem District. Following its recent inauguration, the theater has already left a mark in the hearts of the public with its first performance, coinciding with the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2023), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2023), the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2023), and the 18th anniversary of the All People’s Defense Festival.
Spanning 5,000 square meters, the Ho Guom Opera is a harmonious blend of classical and modern elements, with historical aspects that evoke memories of mankind’s earliest theaters. Additionally, it incorporates various details with strong imprints of Vietnamese culture, such as patterns from Dong Son bronze drums, crane motifs, musical instruments of ethnic minority groups, and images of the Golden Turtle God receiving the magical sword. The overall architecture reflects a neo-classical style, with clear demarcations of functional zones. The main hall draws inspiration from a starry night sky. The spacious auditorium is adorned with stylized decorative lines inspired by the familiar image of rice blossoms from the logo of the People’s Public Security Forces.
The Ho Guom Opera is the first in Vietnam to meet international standards for both natural and amplified acoustics. As such, it can accommodate performances in various art forms, from operas, symphonies, and musicals to modern music events, seminars, and TV shows.
Beyond its functions, the Ho Guom Opera has become an architectural and cultural highlight with a mission to spread artistic values in this land that boasts a thousand years of history and civilization.
