Travel Blogger Quy Coc Tu
In his piece “Ki Co To”, the writer Nguyen Tuan describes a morning on the island: “The sun gradually peeks out and fully rises, looking round and benign like the yolk of a plump, natural egg. This deep, rosy egg rests on a silver platter, its diameter as wide as the pearly horizon of the blushing sea. It’s like an offering plate emerging from the dawn, celebrating the long lives of all of the fishermen spread across the eternal East Sea.” His words are imbued with the magical colors of dawn and the natural beauty of our nation’s frontier islands.

As a travel blogger who has explored the world, witnessing dawn in the Co To Archipelago – often likened to the nation’s “strategic frontier” – filled Quy Coc Tu with pride and emotion. With sacred sentiments, he captured stunning images of nature, the everyday life of the islanders, and the strong spirit of the soldiers who vigilantly guard these seas and skies to protect our nation’s sovereignty.
Heritage magazine is proud to present Quy Coc Tu’s photo series on the Co To archipelago.

The Co To Archipelago is a district of islands located to the east of Quang Ninh province, approximately 80 km from the mainland, consisting of nearly 50 small islands. Tourists primarily explore the island cluster of Co To, Co To Con, and Thanh Lan. With over half its area covered in virgin forests, Co To is a sanctuary of precious greenery. Visitors are urged to say, “No to plastic waste” to protect the environment and the islands’ lush ecosystem.
