Áo dài by La Sen Vu are artistic and poetic, but equally wearable. Designer Lan Anh focuses on cultural images and weaves them into stories and decorative patterns on her áo dài; in particular, she seeks to restore Vietnamese cultural symbols which are gradually eroding and on the verge of being forgotten.
On the occasion of the New Year of the Earth Pig, La Sen Vu has released a new collection, “Year of Affluence,” chiefly inspired by the images of pigs in Dong Ho and Kim Hoang folk paintings which have been revised using a graffiti fine art style for a colorful and flamboyant adaptation into fashion.
Piglets are displayed with a yin-yang symbol meant to represent proliferation and growth for a happy and fulfilling new year.
In addition, the combination of centuries-old decorative patterns from Vietnamese sculpture with refined hand embroidery and beading in colors that correspond to the Year of the Earth Pig bring good wishes of prosperity and wealth to wearers.
